National Horse Shows at Penang Turf Club 06.06.09-New comments

This is the 1st time our family visit to the Penang turf club......very big and lots of people.

We went there quite late at about 5pm, most of the events already close. Luckly we manage to go for the carriage ride. But too late for the Pony ride..... Nicholas very disappointed.

Nicholas is okey with the horse, he dare to touch & feed them.

Hi Carrine

Yes I agree the show was a very good outing for families,
but sad to say my 8 yrs old daughter had a very different experience. She was feeding one of the horses behind the barrier put up with the feed provided by the organisers. All of a sudden the horse just bit her on the chest and lifted her up into the air approx above 6feet high. I was in shock with my friends n their children who were there, after approx 3mins the horse put her down. She suffered a shock the trauma and a very big ugly bruise of the horse teeth mark on her chest.
What makes me angry from this incident was there were no personnel around to assist, n my friend had to round around to look for them(found them seated in one corner taking a puff oblivious of what had happened). They aonly ask the young red crescent boys n girls to come after a while. They only brought a doctor after I insisted for senior medical assistance.
To add salt to the injury, one of the doctor on duty said we should not be feeding the horses, then I ask him why were the children given FREE horse feed??????
Had to sent my daughter to LWE Hospital for thorough check up again and jab and medication. PAY the medical bill myself.... very terrible experience for our family as i had to call my husband who's overseas to convey the news....

I feel the organisers should have taken precaution against these incidents as they are waware that there will be many children there.

Hmmm... poor lil girl. Most of the time, the organizer takes things for granted. And sad to say, we as parents takes things for granted too.

Hope she get well soon.

i am sorry to hear of the incident but i also cannot believe that karen ooi's daughter was held by the horse teeth for "approx 3 minutes in the air" without any severe skin tissue tear/damage. the front teeth of the horses are quite shape and not the back molars. please write an accurate and unbiased report. furthermore as parents, one should be monitoring the situation, especially with an 8 year old child and not push all the blame to others, otherwise what are you there for ?

To defend/comment on others' statement, one should at least have the courtesy to sign off with a name.
Responsibility lies hugely on the organiser to protect the public especially when allowed to feed unpredictable animals/horses.
Yes, parents are responsible for their kids if they break-in to the barriers provided. Ample barriers & notices & personnel should be there, otherwise don't organise!

Yes, I agreed with Jessen. Are you from the organiser? Why your comments so one sided to the orginiser?

Sure Parents should take care of our kid but if the orginiser does not provive enough notice and barrier than how can we know that we are not suppose to near the horses?
